Face masks must still be worn in all NHS buildings after 19 July 2021

England's Chief Nurse has reminded the public that everyone entering a healthcare setting must continue to wear a face covering (unless exempt) and follow social distancing rules.

Covid restrictions will end in many settings from Monday 19 July but Public Health England guidance says that infection prevention control guidelines should be followed by all staff and visitors across all health services including:

  • GP practices
  • Dental practices
  • Optometrists
  • Pharmacists

Staff, patients and visitors should continue to follow social distancing rules and use face coverings, masks and other personal protection equipment in NHS buildings and healthcare settings.
